Friendships
How to make friends in Bangalore as an adult

Making friends as an adult in Bangalore can sometimes feel like a full-time job. Between the soul-crushing Silk Board traffic, the hustle, and the inevitable "bro, plan cancelled" at the last minute, the city can feel lonely despite having too many people in it. We’ve all been there: scrolling Instagram on a Friday night, wondering how "socializing" requires more project management than our actual careers.
But, Bangalore is arguably the most open city in India. Most people you meet here are also from somewhere else. They are also looking for a sense of belonging. They are also tired of the superficial "What do you do?" loops at networking events and will not remember the answer anyway. This city rewards curiosity and if you're willing to show up, Bangalore will meet you halfway.
The secret isn’t attending more events. It's to find people who are already doing what you love and just show up consistently. Your future best friend is probably at the same run every Saturday morning. They're at the same book club you keep meaning to join. They're at the coffee shop you bookmarked three months ago and never attended.
Here’s a list of communities I’ve come across that don't feel like a LinkedIn meet-up.
Fitness
The “Endorphin Bond" is real. There is a specific kind of bonding that happens when you’re chasing a personal best at 7 AM while the rest of the city sleeps.
Stride run club: A community that hits the sweet spot between serious running and social vibes.
Indiranagar Run Club: Perfect for meeting people who live within your actual orbit. Because let's be honest, if they live 10km away, you're never seeing them for coffee.
Adidas Runners: A massive, well-organized global community with deep local roots.
Sisters in Sweat: A women-centric space that organizes events across different sports.
BLR Slack and flow: A community built around slacklining, flow arts, acro yoga, and movement disciplines you didn't know you needed. If you've ever wanted to try something that looks impossible and then do it anyway, start here.
Food & Beverage
Bangalore is best understood through its palate. Skip the generic dinner and try something with a bit of soul.
Thindi Walks by Ajith: Discover the city through its iconic breakfast spots. It’s hard not to vibe with someone over a perfect benne dosa.
Meet Over Coffee by Sid: Simple, curated, and quiet. It’s about stripping away the noise and focusing on actual conversation.
Coffee Workshops by Subko: For the craft-obsessed. Learn the "why" behind your cup while meeting others who appreciate a good roast.
Reading & Knowledge
For the "introverted extrovert" who wants to be around people without the pressure of constant small talk.
Cubbon Reads & HSR Reads: The "silent revolution." Bring a book, find a patch of grass, and enjoy the collective peace of reading together. It’s socializing without the talking. A dream.
Pint of View: Where breweries become classrooms. Skip the loud music for moderated discussions on things that actually matter.
Art, Music & Culture
Nothing breaks the ice faster than a shared chorus or a messy sketchpad. These are about "doing" over "watching."
Souljams: A jam session that feels like a giant living room. Just a bunch of people vibing over music and vulnerability.
Workshops by MAP: From animation to art-history deep dives, the Museum of Art & Photography gets you talking while you create.
Putting Scene: Curated "scenes" for people who want to skip the brewery circuit. From stargazing to board games, it's about low-pressure hangouts.
Go find your people.
This list is just what I know, the tip of the iceberg. Whatever your niche is whether it’s bouldering, pottery, or history, Bangalore likely has a club for it. The goal is to stop "searching" for friends and start "doing" what you love. When you’re in your element, you’re at your most magnetic anyway.
And if you’re looking for your person?
Finding your tribe is the first step to feeling at home. But I know that sometimes, you’re looking for a connection that goes a little deeper than a weekend hobby.
At Meant2Bae, we don’t just help you find your people—we help you find your person. Start here.
